The analysis sought to determine if poor urban women (lowest two quintiles) are less likely to use FP than their wealthier counterparts, controlling for other demographic factors.

For the past five years, Jane Otai, Jhpiego's Urban Health Advisor based in Nairobi, Kenya, has managed a program to expand and improve reproductive health care in Nairobi's informal settlements of Korogocho and Viwandani. This successful model of community outreach and citizen empowerment has strengthened rape defense training and post rape care services, developed youth advocates for family planning, and improved reproductive health care service provision.
