Advanced Research Methodology Workshop

This annual workshop, to be held 9 – 20 August, on the University of Nairobi’s Chiromo Campus, provides training in advanced research methods needed for interdisciplinary research on HIV prevention. The aim is to strengthen the capacity of the participants to undertake high qualityinterdisciplinary research and to enhance their analytical skills. The
format is an intensive two week workshop with a combination of lecture
and hands-on data analysis. The training is intended for faculty,
postdoctoral level researchers and advanced doctoral level students, and
will be taught by a team of faculty from the University of Washington
and the University of Nairobi.

CV Raman Fellowship for African Researchers

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has initiated the CV Raman International Fellowship for African Researchers under a new science and technology initiative to promote scientific cooperation with Africa. This prestigious fellowship is aimed at further strengthening the bond between India and African nations through collaboration in science and technology. Applications are invited from African researchers to conduct research in Indian research laboratories/institutes in chosen frontline areas of science and technology.

1. African Population and Health Research Center – Director of Research (Nairobi, KENYA)

The Director of Research at APHRC will be part of the Senior Leadership Team primarily responsible for overseeing the Center’s research portfolio. The candidate will:
- Lead the development and updating of the Center’s strategic plan and its translation into annual work plans
- Work with research theme leaders in setting core research priorities and in fundraising for research projects
- Provide quality assurance for all research work and reports, including proposals, ethical reviews, and research/donor reports
- Support the Head of Policy Engagement and Communication to enhance the role of research in informing policy decisions and the Head of Research Capacity Strengthening to enhance research competencies within APHRC and across sub-Saharan Africa
- Work with the Head of Data Unit to ensure efficient systems for data collection, processing, management, archiving, analyses, and sharing; and
- Work with the Head of Finance and Administration to ensure prudent and efficient deployment of the Center’s human and financial resources in implementing the Center’s research agenda.

2. International Land Coalition – Independent Consultant – (Rome, ITALY)

4. ICF Macro (formerly Macro International) - Resident Technical Advisor for Malaria Monitoring and Evaluation – (Nairobi, KENYA)

ICF Macro is seeking a senior M&E specialist for the MEASURE Evaluation project to provide leadership and technical assistance to the Kenya Division of Malaria Control (DOMC) M&E Unit to strengthen its ability to collect, manage, process and use data for programmatic decision-making, especially in line with the comprehensive Kenya Malaria Monitoring and Evaluation Plan 2009-2017. The Resident Advisor will additionally provide some M&E assistance to US Government implementing partners (e.g. supporting the forthcoming President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) impact evaluation) and will work closely with the DOMC and other malaria stakeholders to ensure coordinated support for the malaria control program.
